Time Off Award!

So recently I decided to take some time completely away from my computer, both for myself
as well as helping a friend work on a major project she has going. For 3 days, I didn’t even
turn on my machine, if you can believe it! I thoroughly enjoyed it as well, and accomplished a
lot of little things I had been “meaning to get too”.  I had a pretty good idea that I would have a
few emails waiting for my upon my return to cyberspace, and truthfully it IS always nice to turn
on “the beast” and see how many orders have come in while I’ve been away, even though that
time span is usually only a few hours or so. Long story short, I returned “here”, and yes, I was
very grateful to see new orders, as I always am (I love helping people and I don’t mind being
rewarded for helping by those who purchase my book(s), to find this:

That’s right, almost 1500 emails, in 3 days! Now, it should be noted that my penis is fine, my
erections are good, my credit is okay, and I don’t need to refinance.  I AM still waiting for those
UK lottery people to pay up, and whoever it is in Africa who’s family member died in some
horrific way to go ahead and forward the millions to me. In other words, a LOT of spam, as we
unfortunately all get.

Now, aside from a little laughter on your part, the rest of the point of the story is something I
started doing to alleviate spam. Quite a few spammers list a gmail or yahoo account in the
header of the email, especially the ones that have a gray background with green text, you
know the ones. What I started doing, and it has genuinely helped, is forwarding each of those
emails to “abuse@” or “spam@” whichever service the message was bounced off of. Now,
don’t get me wrong, I am under NO illusion of thinking that we will ever see the end of spam.
Spammers spam for one simple reason, it works. If it didn’t work, and no one ever took up an
offer (even a fraudulent one), then they would stop. Point is, no matter what Big Brother ever
does, spam will be here as long as the net is here.  My “solution” is simply to decrease the
amount that actually reaches my inbox, taking up my valuable time in having to even look at
and delete it. Give it a try, might work for you as well!

As always, Thank You for being You!

Paul House.
